Privacy Policy

Last Updated: September 2026 • Effective Immediately

Welcome to Plantera – Plant Doctor ("Plantera", "we", "our", or "us"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal data you share with us. This Privacy Policy outlines how your information is collected, processed, and safeguarded across our mobile application, cloud services, and AI diagnostics.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account & Authentication Data: When registering via email or OAuth, we securely process your unique User ID and email address via Supabase Authentication. For guest users, an anonymous session identifier is stored locally on your device.
  • Plant Imagery & User Media: Up to 3 photographs per diagnosis (leaves, stems, or soil) captured or chosen from your library are stored in secured cloud storage buckets (e.g., Supabase Storage) to generate botanical profiles, symptom logs, and care plans.
  • User Observations & Metadata: Free-form symptom notes, custom plant nicknames, room assignments, garden layouts, temperature unit preferences (°C/°F), and gardener skill levels (e.g., Beginner, Enthusiast, Botanist).
  • Approximate Regional Data: Country or climatic zone information voluntarily submitted or inferred for calculating localized watering schedules and seasonal dormancy adjustments.

2. How Information Is Processed & AI Processing

  • Artificial Intelligence Diagnostics: Plantera uses automated machine learning and generative vision models (including Google Gemini API) to evaluate uploaded plant tissue, detect fungal/bacterial diseases or pests, and produce home-remedy suggestions. Image payloads and symptom notes are transmitted securely via encrypted HTTPS to AI endpoints strictly for diagnostic generation.
  • No Advertising or Sale of Data: We do not sell, rent, monetize, or broker your personal information or photographs to data brokers, ad networks, or third-party marketers.

3. Guest Sessions & Data Retention

Guest/anonymous users are assigned temporary device tokens. If you clear your app cache, uninstall the application, or switch devices without linking an email account, your historical plant scans, garden collections, and diagnostic records may be permanently unrecoverable. Registered accounts retain diagnostic histories until explicitly deleted.

4. Data Storage, Security & Access Controls

Your data is stored in enterprise-grade cloud databases equipped with strict Row-Level Security (RLS) policies. Only authenticated users with matching security keys can view or delete their diagnosis histories and garden records. All data in transit is encrypted using modern TLS 1.3 cryptographic protocols.

5. Your Data Protection Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on your jurisdiction, you hold statutory rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right to Access: Request an export of your stored botanical records and profile attributes.
  • Right to Erasure (Deletion): Permanently delete your diagnosis history records or delete your entire account through in-app settings or by contacting our support desk.
  • Right to Rectification: Update plant nicknames, room types, or gardener skill levels at any time.

6. Children's Online Privacy Protection

Plantera is not designed for or directed toward children under 13 years of age (or 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect identifiable data from children.

7. Contact Information
